UPDF Tomahawks collected their first win of the 2026 National Basketball League after beating UCU Canons in a rescheduled game on Monday night at YMCA Court in Wandegeya.
The game was replayed for just the remaining two minutes after it was interrupted in the closing stages on Sunday due to a downpour.
It restarted with UCU Canons leading by just a point, 48-47, a lead they relinquished in dramatic fashion.
Peter Akol drilled in a jumper before Felix Mukunzi and Kevin Kasobya scored a free-throw each to help UPDF win 51-48, leaving UCU scoreless on Monday.
Akol finished with a game high 20 points and 11 rebounds while Kevin Kasobya added 11 points in the win.
Daniel Muganzi and Zachariah Ekirapa scored 12 and 10 points respectively for the Canons in defeat.
The Tomahawks won the rebounding battle 57-43 in a game Nicholas Natuhereza’s UCU turned the ball 27 times.
UPDF had earlier lost to Rezlife Saints, City Oilers, KCCA Panthers and Victoria Crocs before clinching their first win on Monday.
