SC Villa are through to the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 16 after eliminating BUL in a tense game on Wednesday at FUFA Stadium Kadiba.
The Jogoos progressed 4-3 on penalties after normal time ended 2-2.
Reagan Mpande scored from the spot early in the game when referee Lucky Kasalirwe pointed to the spot after BUL defender Nicholas Mwere brought down Hassan Mubiru in the area just after two minutes.
But the visitors responded at the stroke of halftime, with Reagan Kalyowa’s intended cross finding the back of the net, beating David Lukwago in goal, reminiscent of a similar goal Nicholas Mwere scored against him in the league at Njeru.

And BUL took the lead minutes into the second half when Richard Okello benefited from Lukwago’s error, with the goalkeeper unable to punch away a lofty delivery.
Substitute Patrick Jonah Kakande restored parity for the hosts, slotting in past Goalkeeper Thomas Ikara after he was set up by Ibrahim Kasinde in the 63rd minute.
The teams couldn’t be separated after the 90 minutes to necessitate shootouts where the Jogoos progressed.
Kakande, David Owori, Mubiru and Kasinde converted Villa’s penalties in a tense round of 16 tie.
