Sadick Ssempigi remains open to staying at newly promoted Uganda Premier League side Kigezi Homeboyz beyond his current employment contract.
Speaking after Kigezi Homeboyz defeat to CATDA at home on the final day, Ssempigi said him and club management discussed the possibility of staying on during their journey in the Topflight.
“I signed a one year employment contract with the club when I was joining but the management also gave me an offer of three years in case in deliver success. So it’s upon me to continue serving the club or then down the offer on the table. I am however delighted that we have achieved the main target that is Topflight football next season.” Said Ssempigi before adding,
“I am proud as a coach for enabling such an amazing team to the UPL, it has indeed been a successful campaign for ya despite the challenges as you know the Big League with long journeys it’s really hard to win games. I thank the players for their hardwork and the management for being supportive during our journey in the Big League.” Said Ssempigi
Experienced head coach Kefa Kisala’s name earlier this week emerged as the favourite to take over from Ssempigi at Kigezi Homeboyz in case he opts out following a remarkable achievement.
For the first time in 25 years, Kigezi Region will have a team featuring in the Uganda Premier League. Kigezi Homeboyz finished fourth on the 2025/26 FUFA Big League table with 51 points.
Kigezi Homeboyz joins champions Blacks Power, Ntugasaze FC and Kataka FC in next season’s 18-team Uganda Premier League.
