Hajji Omar Ahmed Mandela is set to continue as the SC Villa president for the next four years.
SC Villa Electoral Committee chairman Brian Kajubi confirmed on Saturday that only one candidate, Mandela, had returned valid nomination papers by Saturday’s deadline.
Five members initially picked nomination forms but none of Meywa Farooq, Mbidde Dennis Ssebugwawo, Bulezi Simeon Kawuma, and Ben Misagga returned the forms.
The trio earlier petitioned FUFA to intervene into the club Elections, raising concerns including the move to ask for Sh100m as nomination fee which they termed as excessively high and contrary to the 2021 Villa Electoral guidelines.
Kajubi stated that The Election Commission has forwarded Mandela’s name and documents for vetting and further processing.
The commission will release additional information on the vetting outcome and next electoral steps in due course.
The club earlier set March 22 as the dates for presidential elections.
Mandela watched the club’s goalless draw against rivals Express at Kadiba with a group of fans seen with placards praising the incumbent candidate.
Under his concluded term, SC Villa regained financial stability and improved on the pitch, including winning the league in 2023/24 season.
