KCCA Panthers secured their first win of the National Basketball League season, edging the UPDF Tomahawks 71–68 in overtime on Saturday at Abja Park.
The tightly contested match was tied at 64–64 at the end of regulation, forcing overtime, where KCCA outscored UPDF 7–4.
KCCA trailed by six points inside the last minute of the fourth quarter but UPDF turnovers proved costly before Stanley Mugerwa’s jumper sent the game to overtime.
Davis Assiimwe led the Panthers with 17 points, while Stanley Mugerwa posted a double-double of 13 points and 20 rebounds.
The victory follows KCCA’s opening loss to the JT Jaguars, while UPDF suffer their second straight defeat.
In the other men’s game, the JKL Dolphins defeated the Kampala Rockets 63–52, with Geoffrey Soro scoring 19 points.
