    Kawawa leaves Express for another UPL side

    NEC FC have completed the signing of offensive midfielder Rashid Kawawa Abdulahi, Swift Sports understands.

    The West Nile born midfielder has been featuring for Express FC whom he joined at the start of last season.

    He joined the Red Eagles in August 2024 following his departure at Arua Hill FC. Kawawa is a brother to Mansoor Agu Safi who also played for Express at the end of the 2023/24 season.

    At NEC FC, Kawawa who has put pen to paper on a two year deal will link up with Richard Basagwa and Hakim Wandera who also joined the Bugolobi based side from Express FC this transfer window.

    He will also reunite with his former coach at Express FC Badru Kaddu at NEC FC.

    Kawawa is one of the highly-rated talents in West Nile notably remembered for winning the UPL Young Player of the Season in the 2021/22 season.

    He rose to limelight after joining Arua Hill from Oli Raising Stars as a teenager in 2017.

    NEC FC finished the first round in seventh position with 20 points and will begin their second round against KCCA FC in the Lugogo debry on 13th February.

    Before the resumption of the league, NEC will first have to negotiate Mbale Towncouncil in the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 64 on Friday 6th February.
