BUL FC have confirmed they have parted ways with head coach Abbey Bogere Kikomeko following a run of poor results.
In a statement released on Tuesday, club Chief Executive Officer Joseph Mutaka said the decision was reached after a comprehensive review of the team’s performance, which fell short of the club’s technical and competitive expectations.
The announcement comes a day after BUL suffered a 3-1 defeat to Police FC at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.
The loss marked the club’s fifth consecutive defeat, following earlier losses to Vipers SC, KCCA FC, Entebbe UPDF and Kitara FC.
The poor run has left BUL FC 12th on the league table with 10 points.
Kikomeko leaves the club having been appointed head coach in June 2023.
BUL also confirmed that his entire backroom staff, including assistant coach Simeone Masaba, have been suspended.
The club revealed that junior team coaches Daniel Kabaale, Michael Ssebagala, Kenneth Magada and Fred Batwala will take charge of the team on an interim basis as management works on a permanent solution.
In July this year, Kikomeko had signed a new two-year contract extension that was set to keep him at the club until the end of the 2026/27 season.
Former BUL head coach Alex Isabirye has emerged as a leading contender to take over the role.
Isabirye was relieved of his duties at URA FC last month and previously left BUL in March 2023 to join Vipers SC, where he went on to win a league and Uganda Cup double.
