Bright Anukani was one of the UPL’s biggest transfer stories when he returned to formative club KCCA FC back in July 2024. He moved from Vipers SC back to his former club as a free agent on a three year deal.

Prior to the start of the current campaign his move back to Lugogo turned sour since the club wanted him out but was reluctant not to give KCCA FC an easy route out of their agreement.

Anukani had not played competitive football for KCCA FC until Sunday, 22nd February when he came on as second half substitute during KCCA FC’s narrow 1-0 win over Mbarara City in the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 32 at Lugogo.

The midfielder recently spoke to Pan-Africa Football website and opened up about his horrendous time at Lugogo, revealing that it was never an easy situation.

“It wasn’t an easy situation, but I stayed calm because I knew the truth was on my side,” Anukani said as quoted by Pan-Africa Football. “I never stopped feeling like a KCCA player. Every day I trained, I reminded myself that my moment would come.”

Anukani added that his return to the KCCA fold was not about proving people wrong

“Coming back wasn’t about proving people wrong. “It was about doing my job, helping the team, and enjoying football again. When I stepped on the pitch, I felt relief, joy, and hunger all at once.”

“Football teaches you patience, there were days when it hurt, but I focused on staying fit, staying humble, and being ready. I didn’t want to waste energy on negativity.” Stated the attacker

Before his return to the senior team fold, Anukani has been playing for the KCCA FC Junior team. The attacking midfielder has previously featured for Proline FC and Vipers SC where he won multiple league titles.
