Iganga Young face possible FUFA sanctions following chaotic scenes during their Uganda Cup clash against Busoga United on Wednesday at Ssaza Grounds.
The match, which saw Busoga United edge Iganga Young 2-1, descended into turmoil after the final whistle.
Club officials from Iganga Young were seen confronting and physically pursuing match officials, with one official kicking the referee after chasing him across the pitch.
Busoga United secured the win thanks to goals from Acram Ssenyonjo and Franco Mugomba. Mugomba’s late strike proved decisive in a match that referees shortened to 80 minutes.
But Iganga Young officials argued that the late goal was offside, triggering the violent reaction at fulltime.
FUFA is expected to investigate the incident and determine whether disciplinary action will be taken against Iganga Young.
The victory sees Busoga United advance to the Uganda Cup Preliminary Round Three, where they will take on Pallisa Hospital this Saturday, with a place in the Uganda Cup Round of 64 at stake.
