UPDF FC have confirmed the acquisition of six new players ahead of their Uganda Premier League opening game.
The six are Innocent Asiimwe, Musa Matovu, Derrick Kato, Innocent Ongurucho, Derrick Talemwa and Herbert Kibirango.
Matovu, Kato and Kibirango have all signed three year contracts while Asiimwe put pen on a two year contract.
Budding forward Talemwa and Ongurucho have both signed four year contracts.
The club will be under the tutelage of Hussein Mbalangu who was appointed as the new head coach to replace Paul Kiwanuka.
Blend of the new and old blood
Matovu has been signed from Wakiso Giants but has previously played for Proline FC, Police FC, Kampala FC and the Aspire Academy.
Talemwa is a striker who scored 26 goals in the Buganda Regional League last season while playing for Young Simba FC.
Ongurucho is a household name in the Masaza Cup. The budding forward has been turning out for Buwambo United who earned a FUFA Big League promotion at the end of last season.

Kato is a former St. Mary’s Kitende right-back acquired from Kisugu United while Kibirango is a striker who has previously played for Express FC and Mbale Heroes.
The Army side will open their 2026/27 season with a home game against new comers Kataka FC on Saturday 29th August at Nakivubo.
