Stanbic Uganda Cup reigning champions Vipers SC have progressed to the round of 32 after eliminating Northern Regional league side Northern Gateway 1-0 in Lira on Thursday.

Nigeria winger Odili Chukwuma scored the only goal of the contest at the stroke of halftime.

The Ivan Jacky Minneart coached side however faced a huge blow when defender Hillary Mukundane was forced off due to injury in the 19th minute with Roger Torach replacing him.

Chukwuma fired the Venoms into the lead two minutes to the halftime breather and his goal was the difference between the two sides.

Congolese defender Kevin Dasylva Bady was named man of the match as the Venoms join KCCA FC, UPDF FC, Express FC, Mbarara City, BUL FC and Six O’clock into the round of 32.
