The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has taken disciplinary action against Kiyinda Boys following violent scenes during their recent FUFA Big League encounter with Kigezi HomeBoyz.
In a ruling issued after reviewing the incident, FUFA docked Kiyinda Boys two points and two goals, and imposed a fine of one million shillings. The sanctions stem from crowd trouble that escalated into physical attacks, including an assault on the match referee.
According to the disciplinary panel, four key individuals were identified in the chaos. These include a man seen wielding a stick, a player wearing jersey number 6 who punched the referee, another individual who struck the referee with an object, and a person who attacked the goalkeeper using a wooden board.
FUFA has further directed Kiyinda Boys to identify the culprits within 15 days. Failure to do so will result in additional sanctions, including another two-point and two-goal deduction.
The incidents occurred after a 1-1 draw between the two sides on March 25 in Kiwenda.
In the aftermath of the match, Kigezi HomeBoyz released a statement alleging that their team faced hostility from the moment they arrived at the venue.
The club cited delayed access, verbal abuse at the entrance, and confrontations involving home club officials.
Kigezi also claimed that the situation worsened during and after the game, with several individuals reportedly injured following attacks on their players, officials, and referees.
The club further alleged that individuals associated with the home team, including sections of supporters and officials, were responsible for physically attacking their delegation.
They added that their club photographer was assaulted and had essential equipment confiscated shortly after kickoff.
