    The 2026 Ankole Cup has formally been launched at Kati Kati Restaurant in Lugogo with over 13 districts set to battle it out.

    The launch of the fifth version was graced by Members of Parliament who included Mwine Mpaka, Francis Mwijuka, Peter Agaba and Mercy Kanyesiga amongst others.

    The event’s Chairperson for Media and Mobilisation, Osborn Mushabe, thanked the sponsors and promised nice event.

    “I take this chance to thank the sponsors who’ve come on board to assist the event. I promise that this yr the event will likely be better than the earlier one and we count on a aggressive occasion.” Stated Mushabe

    Wandaz Cosmetics are a number of the sponsors who’ve come on board.

    The 13 districts from Ankole who’ve already confirmed their participation on this yr’s Ankole Cup have already been grouped into 4 teams.

    Group A has Bushenyi district, Sheema district and Ntungamo district whereas Kazo district, Ibanda district and Kiruhura district are in group B.

    Group C has Isingiro district, Rwampara district, Mbarara Metropolis and Kashari whereas Group D has Buhweju district, Rubirizi district and Mitooma district.

    Based on the organizers, a complete of 43 matches are set to be performed from the group phases, quarter-finals (two legs), semi-finals (two legs) and the grand finale.

    The competitors will kick off on June 6 at Bushenyi Primary Stadium, with Bushenyi taking up Sheema within the opening match.

    Earlier than the opening recreation, there will likely be curtain-raiser matches with Members of Parliament going through the media whereas St. Kagwa Bushenyi Excessive Faculty and Nganwa Excessive Faculty will battle within the colleges’ Derby.

    Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa would be the chief visitor on the opening day.
