The Uganda Premier League clash between Calvary and SC Villa was abandoned at halftime at Midigo in Yumbe.

The match officials did not resume for the second half due to concerns relating to match control, safety, and security within the stadium environment.

SC Villa was leading 1-0 through Frank Ssebuufu when the two teams went for a halftime break.

The heavy rains delayed and return for the second half, and amidst insecurity with a section of home fans turning violent, the referees discontinued the game.

The Uganda Premier League secretariat said they will release a statement in the aftermath of the referee’s report.

Calvary remain bottom of the table with just five points and yet to win a game in their debut season in top flight.

A win would have pushed SC Villa up to second, but the said remain on 35 points pending a decision from the Uganda Premier League.

What next – SC Villa will host Express on March 7 at Kadiba while Calvary will welcome Maroons on Yumbe on March 10.
