Senegal and Benin will be eyeing a place in the last 16 as the two sides face off in a decisive group D match at the ongoing AFCON 2025 in Morocco.
Senegal top the group with four points but can be leapfrogged by DR Congo and Benin if they the two claim wins.
Benin, on three points after a hard fought win against Botswana, will remain confident of causing an upset.
With four third-placed teams also qualifying to the round of 16, Benin who are already on three points already, are better off than third-placed teams from Group A and B.
But Senegal, who can still qualify with defeat, will not rest on their laurels as they target maximum points.
Senegal head coach Pape Thiaw said: “Now, it’s up to us to be sharper and more determined to secure this victory, which is so important to us.”
“We accept that we are among the favourites, but this is the AFCON. Matches are won on the pitch. We must respect our opponents and remain humble.”
The Lions of Teranga beat Botswana 3-0, thanks to Nicholas Jackson brace and a goal by Cherif Ndiaye, in their opener before a 1-1 draw against DR Congo.
