Uganda Cranes defender Toby Sibbick says that they have full belief ahead of their final group game against Nigeria at the ongoing AFCON 2025 on Tuesday.
The Cranes face Nigeria at Fez stadium needing maximum points to reach the round of 16.
After two matches, Uganda sit bottom of the group following a disappointing ending to a 1-1 draw with Tanzania.
Allan Okello missed from the spot late in injury time to deny Cranes a sensational win against their neighbors.
“We are just disappointed, we felt like we should have won, we had good chances but at the end of the day it’s football,” said Sibbick, in an interview with Pitchside.
“We still have a game to go and have full brief that we can win on Tuesday.”
Striker Uche Ikpeazu Mubiru, on his AFCON debut, came off the bench to head in the equaliser after Simon Msuva had put the Taifa Stars ahead.
Sibbick who played with Uche at Hearts in Scotland, stated: “I am personally delighted with Uche, he has been patient and I played with him before and he has come on scored a good goal.”
“We dominated the last phase of the game but we couldn’t get the three points. We will follow the coach’s game plan and hopefully we can get the three points on Tuesday.”
Sibbick who features for English League one side Burton Albion, has been one of the Cranes outstanding players at the tournament so far.
