KCCA FC made light work of Kampala rivals Express FC in a Uganda Premier League match under Lugogo floodlights on Wednesday night.

Sammy Ssebaduka, Ivan Ahimbisibwe and Saidi Mayanja were all on target as KCCA completed a double over Express having won the first round tie 1-0 at Nakivubo.

The hosts took the lead early in the 13th minute. Sammy Ssebaduka headed in a cross from Herbert Achayi to beat Express goalkeeper Khassim Hafizi.

KCCA scored the second goal in the 29th minute. Ivan Ahimbisibwe took advantage of a defensive mistake in the box and calmly finished to make it 2-0.

Brian Jjara nearly added a third goal before halftime, but his long-range shot was saved by Hafizi.

The hosts continued to dominate in the second half. Shafik Kwikiriza created the third goal after beating defenders and sending in a good cross for Saidi Mayanja, who scored with a diving header just after the hour mark.

The win moves KCCA FC to third place on the league table with 42 points from 20 matches, exerting revenge on an Express side that had won their last two visits at Lugogo.

There was less to admire for Express side that had put up a commendable second half display last Saturday against SC Villa in a goalless draw at Kadiba.

The defeat ends a run of five straight draws, as the side remain without a win in seven league matches since beating Buhimba United Saints 3-1 at Nakivubo.

Express are 11th with 20 points from 20 matches.
