Soroti University’s University Football League campaign has come to a painful end after the institution was suspended for fielding impersonators.
The controversy stems from a match played on October 26, 2025, against YMCA Comprehensive Institute.
YMCA later petitioned the League, alleging that two Soroti University players were not who they were licensed to be.
Investigations by the UFL Disciplinary Committee confirmed that the players listed as Bambaga Joseph and Osaka David Success were indeed impersonators and not registered students of the university.
The Disciplinary Committee ruled that Soroti University had breached league rules by fielding the two players and initially handed the institution a two-season suspension from the University Football League.
The university was also fined 500,000 shillings for bringing the league into disrepute and ordered to pay 300,000 shillings to cover the successful petition filed by YMCA.

Soroti University appealed the decision, acknowledging its mistake and appealing for leniency. The Appeals Committee reviewed the case and partially upheld the original ruling, reducing the suspension to one season only, covering the 2025/26 campaign.
Despite the reduced ban, the financial penalties remain in place, with Soroti University still required to pay both the 300,000 shilling petition fee and the 500,000 shilling fine.
