Vipers SC has written to the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) formally protesting the continued delay in resolving their postponed Uganda Premier League fixture against Kitara FC, warning that the situation threatens the integrity of the league.
The club has expressed frustration at what it describes as prolonged silence from the FUFA Competitions Committee regarding the status of the match, which was originally scheduled for 4 October 2025.
Then, Vipers were a no-show for their scheduled match against Kitara, as they continued their protest for the new league format which has since been scrapped.
Vipers state that despite several written inquiries sent, including the last one on 12 November 2025, no official communication or decision has been made concerning the postponed fixture.
The club argues that the lack of clarity has moved beyond procedural delay and now poses a direct risk to sporting fairness.
“The fixture was postponed during the enforcement of Regulations 14.4 – 14.12. By FUFA’s own subsequent action–suspending those very regulations–the Federation has admitted that the legal basis under which the league was operating at that time is no longer applicable and no decision can now be taken basing on a non-existent legal regime,” reads the letter in part.
“It is therefore logically and legally inconsistent for the Federation to suspend the above regulations abandoning the proposed new league format and revert to the old format while simultaneously leaving our fixture in “limbo” as if the dispute that caused the postponement was invalid.”
In their letter, Vipers also criticise what they term administrative negligence, arguing that failure to reschedule the match has distorted the league table and misrepresented their points-per-game standing. They warn that the delay could also lead to fixture congestion later in the season, increasing player fatigue and injury risk.
The club has issued a set of formal demands to FUFA, chief among them the immediate rescheduling of the Kitara FC match within the current round of the league.
Additionally, the defending league champions are asking FUFA to guarantee that no forfeiture or walkover ruling will be considered, insisting that league points should only be won or lost on the field of play and not through boardroom decisions.
The Venoms have given FUFA a deadline of 4 January 2026 to formally respond to the issues raised, warning that failure to do so will leave the club with no option but to escalate the matter through available football and legal channels.
