KCCA Women Football Club has confirmed the departure of their Ethiopian coach Asefa Firew Hailegebreal.

The development was confirmed on Monday, with the Ethiopian coach leaving the club following the expiration of his employment contract.

“KCCA Women FC confirms that Head Coach Asefa Firew Hailegebreal has departed the club following the conclusion of his contract,” the club said in a statement.

“Coach Asefa has been an important part of our journey, providing leadership, discipline and commitment both on and off the pitch. Under his guidance, the team created memorable moments including FUFA Women Super League and FUFA Women’s Cup trophies added to the cabinet.”

Hailegebreal was appointed as KCCA Women (formerly Kampala Queens) coach at the start of the 2024/25 season on a two-year deal.

During his time at the club, the tactician led the side to their second FUFA Women Super League title and also won the FUFA Women’s Cup last season.

Last month, KCCA FC formally acquired a 30% stake in Kampala Queens FC in a move that saw the club rebrand to KCCA Women FC. KCCA FC and KCCA WFC (formerly Kampala Queens FC) will now operate as the official men’s and women’s football teams under the KCCA Football Club brand.
